Modern Apprenticeship schemes

Apprenticeship schemes are available for young people aged between 16-21. Think of an apprenticeship as a deal. You play a valuable part in helping your community, and in return we will help you develop a wide range of skills and study for a relevant NVQ level 2. For some roles other technical certificates may also be available.

For Foundation Apprenticeships you’ll be employed on a two-year training contract, or a three-year training contract for Advanced Apprenticeships. During your training you’ll be able to apply for suitable permanent roles in the Council. At Oldham Council apprenticeships are offered as permanent roles. Your NVQ training will involve valuable external training on a day- or block-release basis at a local training centre, as well as on-the-job training in the workplace.

Everyone who applies will take a series of tests which will enable the Council to assess your ability to complete the programme. You can expect to receive equal treatment regardless of disability, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, race, colour, religion, nationality, ethnic or national origin.
